The Friends of Sutton Park Association was established 1950 in response to suggestions that parts of Sutton Park could be developed for housing and other buildings. Since then the park has been granted a National Nature Reserve status. Certain areas have SSSI and Scheduled Ancient Monuments status. It is used by many hundreds of thousands or people every year for pleasure and recreational activities.

FOSPA, is also affiliated to the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers, has a voluntary conservation team which works in partnership with the Sutton Park Ranger service to improve and enhance the rich mixture of wildlife and landscapes that Sutton Park contains.

Sutton Coldfield Town Hall was built at the turn of the centuary (20th century that is). It is one of the most important and prestigeous buildings in Sutton Coldfield and today has many uses, from live music, shows and exhibitions to venues for weddings and meetings. It has richly coloured carpets and curtains, decorative glass and plasterwork, chandeliers and a magnificent vaulted ceiling. Website maintained by Birmingham City Council.
